Origin
Vins de France is a quite new denomination (2009) for wines produced and sourced from different wine regions in France. It is a great opportunity for our winemaker to express the House skills with wines showing a steady style and unique personality and perfectly reflecting Antonin Rodet’s commitment towards the enhancement of French terroir, more specifically Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Vinification and maturing
Vintage : 2022
The record heat in May caused a sudden boost and the vines went from a late budburst to flowering 8 to 10 days ahead of schedule. June was characterised by stormy spells with heavy rainfall, which was beneficial to the grapes' development. The hot summer, with periods of scorching heat, made the vines on the slopes and those with no irrigation thirsty.
The first harvest began at night on 10 August with the Sauvignon and Pinot Noir varieties in the Béziers and Montpellier area. This is quite significant, as over the last ten years, the harvest has always begun after 15 August. Warm weather during the day with cool nights thanks to sea breezes, enabled the grapes to retain their aromatic potential and to preserve their sugar/acidity balance.
This typically early vintage produces colourful wines with a vast array of aromas and good concentration. Volumes are slightly higher compared to 2021.
